KEY POINTS:
Flemington trainer Danny O'Brien has had plenty of recent success with New Zealand-bred racehorses and was busy inspecting yearlings at Karaka yesterday.
O'Brien has certainly enjoyed training progeny of Waikato Stud-based stallions Pins and O'Reilly and was quick to inspect that farm's yearling draught.
"Waikato Stud have sent me some outstanding racehorses to train and Glamour Puss was one of the best I've had," said O'Brien. "I've being impressed with all the yearlings I've seen so far and I have clients keen to buy at this sale."
The star of the O'Brien stable is Caulfield Cup winner Master O'Reilly, who was eighth behind Efficient in the Melbourne Cup.
Master O'Reilly will race sparingly during the autumn with O'Brien planning a repeat Caulfield-Melbourne Cup raid later this year.
"Master O'Reilly may have being a tired horse when lining up in the Melbourne Cup or he may have not stayed the 3200m.
"The only way I'll find that out is to race him again over 3200m."
Group One winning success as a professional trainer was obvious yesterday with O'Brien inspecting yearling progeny of Zabeel from Cambridge Stud's class of 2008.
A few years ago Zabeel yearlings would not have being on the shopping list of O'Brien.
"I have owners keen on buying potential group racehorses and I'd be silly not to look at New Zealand-bred yearlings as their staying horses are winning everything in Australia."
O'Brien has recently purchased a farm in Barwon Heads, 75km out of Melbourne, where he will operate a pre-training and agistment property.
