Madamvizelle and Wildgoosechase showed their fitness for Te Rapa on the weekend when they galloped impressively at Matamata yesterday.
On a good sand, Madamvizelle (Michelle Wenn) worked as well as ever when she left 1000m behind in 1:03.4 and the final 600m in 36.6.
She has obviously trained on well since her last start Te Rapa win.
Wildgoosechase (Wenn) looked ready to back up from Rotorua last weekend when she covered 1200m in 1:23.7, the 1000m in 1:09.3 and 600m in 39.3.
She is well placed in tomorrow's R76 1600m event.
Race rival Cruz Control (Ritchie) put plenty of spark into her work over 800m in 50.2 and 600m in 36.5.
Kirra Sand (Dowling) was not extended over 1200m in 1:26.2, the last 600m in 39, while Romeod (C. Thornton) looked well when finishing his work with 1000m in 1:12.2 and the last 600m in a bold 37.8.
On the course proper, which was dead 30 metres out, Pinprick (Coleman) strode over 1200m in 1:28.5, the final 600m in 41.7. He is in good order for the PQ 1400 at Te Rapa.
Floral Prince (Alexander) and Floral Quest (Dellow) cut out 1000m in 1:10.4, quickening for a sound final 600m in 41.2.
Dahling (Coleman) showed her fitness with 1200m in 1:128, the last 600m in 42.3.
Maz Quin (Wenn) was not pushed over 1000m in 1:12.6 and 600m in 44.2, while Mi Opinion (Burton) ran in from the 800m in 1:09.5 and 600m in 44.8.
On the sand Show Lad (Wells) took 1:06.8 for 1000m and 40.2 for the final 600m, while Malissimo (M. Carston) came from the 600m in 36.6.
Insignificant (Wenn) worked over 1000m in 1:06.4 and 600m in 40.2.
Genevra De Benci (Coleman), who runs next at Awapuni on Saturday week, ran 1000m in 1:08.9, the 600m in 39.8.
Wisteria Lane (Tetzlaff) and Princess Zabeel (Wenn) took 1:21.5 for 1200m and 39.5 for the last 600m.
Habana (P. Ormsby) covered 1000m in 1:05.5 and 600m in 38.2, while Silver Legacy (S. Collett) was contained over the same distance in 1:14.4 and 44.9.
Congaline (Walker), who is nearing race fitness, cut out 1200m in 1:28.8, the 600 in 44.6. Egeria (Coleman) did similar work when recording 1:30.6 and 43.2.
On the all-weather track First Up Fred (Verry) and Lady Lip (Gartner) ran 1000m in 1:06.7 and the final 600m in 39.2.
* Sir Kinloch, who resumes racing at Te Rapa tomorrow, was again highly pleasing in training at Pukekohe yesterday. Fog prevented some timing.
Working on the all-weather sand, the Richard Yuill-trained grey sprinted 1000m in 1:2, the last 600 in 35.7.
Yuill said that Western Legacy, who won at Avondale on Wednesday, would "back-up" at Te Rapa tomorrow. "He came through the race well and is at the top of his game. Why not?"
Prized Touch, ridden by co-trainer Richard Collett, ended his work with 800m in 53.3, the last 600 in 38.
Collett said that stable star Cog Hill had travelled well to Brisbane on Tuesday and settled in happily.
Cog Hill races at Doomben tomorrow.
Speedalot, a rival for Prized Touch, ran the last 600m of 800 in 37. She and Prized Touch could quinella race 10.
Le Gold Rays finished 600m in 37.2, and Vivaldi's Gone, the third of Cydne Evans' runners, ran the last 600 of his work in 37.4.
Beyer Garret and Glazin cut out 600m in a very smart 35.2.
