MELBOURNE - Owner Lloyd Williams will decide later in the week whether exciting 3-year-old Linton will run in the Futurity Stakes (1600m) at Caulfield on Saturday.
Williams has also entered the grey in the Autumn Classic (1800m) but said the Galileo gelding might miss both and run in the Australian Guineas (1600m) at Flemington the following week or even be spelled without another autumn run.
"I couldn't tell you what we are going to do with him at this particular moment," Williams said, but if Linton did run this Saturday it would most probably be in the Futurity Stakes.
Linton has raced three times and made a spectacular transition from a seven-length Cranbourne maiden win at his second start to a 1-length victory over Take The Rap in the Alister Clark Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley.
"He has come through his last race quite well but he's only had three runs in his life and I need to make sure I have got a horse," Williams said.
"We are patient in this camp and just trying to work out whether Saturday's Futurity is the right race for him or perhaps the Guineas."
Only 10 horses have been entered for the Futurity which has three-time group one winning mare Typhoon Tracy as its headline act after her first-up win in the Orr Stakes (1400m).
Damien Oliver has been booked for Sniper's Bullet while Jason Waddell will ride New Zealander Lord Tavistock.
Saturday's St George Stakes winner La Rocket is also entered, along with Kilmore Cup winner Joku, Caulfield Cup placegetter Barbaricus and Hong Kong group one placegetter Dao Dao from the Team Hawkes yard.
