Jason Laking will renew his association with Titsgittin, the topweight in the Hororata Cup at Riccarton today.
Laking rode Titsgittin to win the Clare Memorial Cup at Omakau in January when regular rider Lance Robinson was under suspension.
Robinson is committed to Waitui Dancer as stable rider for Riccarton trainers Leslie and Richard Didham.
Titsgittin finished third in the Marton Cup, fourth in the Wellington Cup and second in the Amberley Cup since his Omakau win.
The Amberley Cup was over 1600m and he ran La Vazza to a long head under 60.5kg. He has 60kg today.
Waitui Dancer followed up a rating 80 win at Omakau with an open win 2000m at Cromwell two days later. He was successful at this meeting a year ago, along with stablemate Waitui Gold, the topweight in race six today.
Laking is back aboard The Pearler in the South Island Breeders' Stakes, the set-weight race for mares and fillies over 1600m. He has ridden the mare in three of her wins.
