Kelvin Tyler's main worry this week with The Energizer was securing a jockey for the seven-year-old at Wingatui today.
The Riverton trainer didn't expect any issues in that area, given the jumper's form credentials for The Virginia Hutchinson Memorial (2750m).
"I texted and rang a few riders, but couldn't get anyone — I thought they would have been jumping out of trees to get on him," Tyler said.
However, an approach from the Whanganui-based Hana Bognuda settled the issue.
"She was the only one that rang me up for the ride," Tyler said.
Bognuda is now in prime position to post her first winner as The Energizer is at the top of his game. The son of Shinko King, who is being aimed at next month's Canterbury Grand National Hurdles (4200m), won over fences at Wingatui two runs back before finishing runner-up at Timaru.
"I expect him to go close. He'd probably have to fall over to get beaten but it's a hurdle race and anything can happen," Tyler said.
