"The 1600m at Randwick is like a 2000m race and provided there is plenty of pace on she will be well suited. There isn't a great deal of obvious speed, but it's a group one race, so we shouldn't be too badly off.
"I've left it up to Blake [Shinn] where he positions up." On form one of the main dangers is Lucia Valentina. But where Kirramosa likes it firm, Lucia Valentina much prefers a bit of rain.
"We are going to be better suited than her," says Sargent.
Hastings today is not easy, but there are a couple that appeal. Few more than Serious Satire (No10, R4) who was spectacular winning on Makfi day in coming from an impossible position to swamp a good field late. She reverts to her own sex here and that will help her repeat.
She has drawn a perfect barrier and there are few obstructions in her way. Strata Lady (No2) goes well when fresh and can run a race. Love Triangle (No11) is smart.
The bet all day looks to be Ryan Mark (No4, R8) and if the $2 is still on offer today it's value. He should jump to the front from barrier No 1 and lead - and win. He is a very smart sprinter. Dangers for the multiples are Recite (No5), Allez Eagle (No6) and Mosse (No10).
The $250,000 Livamol is going to come down to luck in running and Pondarosa Miss (No12, R9) looks the one likely to get it. Her overall form is first class at the highest level and if there is a decent pace in this race she will finish it off probably better than anything else. She is one of the few in the field with a decent barrier draw (No1).
New Zealand's highest-rated maiden steps into town hall company again this weekend.
Battle Time is fourth favourite for the Group 2 Sacred Falls Hawke's Bay Guineas at Hastings today.
The Cambridge colt remains a maiden after seven starts but has already been Group 1 placed and has earned $56,000 in stakes.
He has a handicap rating of 73, putting him in the top four in the Guineas field, and his rivals with a lower rating include Amarula (three wins) and the unbeaten Scrutinize.
Battle Time will also be the opening half of a strong double act at Hastings for his Cambridge trainers, Tim and Margaret Carter, and owner Allan Hayward. Three races later, Battle Time's half-brother and stablemate Farm Boy will tackle the Livamol Classic.
Battle Time was only a nose away from breaking his maiden status when runner-up to Gold Trail Stakes favourite Serious Satire on the first day of the Hawke's Bay carnival, when resuming.
The Battle Paint colt had five placings from six starts as a juvenile and ran second to Dal Cielo in the Group 1 Diamond Stakes at Ellerslie.
"We are really happy with Battle Time," Tim Carter said. "He was a late November foal and what he did last season was a bit of a bonus."
Farm Boy was Group 1 placed at weight-for-age last term but, like many of his Livamol rivals, missed a run in the Windsor Park Plate a fortnight ago. However, he had the benefit of the trip to Hastings for the abandoned meeting and also had an exhibition gallop at Ellerslie last weekend.
"The trip to Ellerslie and the exhibition gallop brought him on quite well and Vinnie [Colgan] was really happy with him," Carter said.
Te Awamutu trainer Peter Hollinshead is looking for a family double this weekend.
Hollinshead will run Pondarosa Miss in the Livamol Classic and he is also a part-owner of Moderation, a half-sister to Pondarosa Miss, who makes her debut at Waipa tomorrow.
Trained by Hollinshead's son Darrell, Moderation is a four-year-old by Mastercraftsman who won a trial on her home track this month.
Punters have come with their money for Amralah to give Lloyd Williams a fourth Turnbull Stakes in the past seven years at Flemington tomorrow.
The horse has been backed from $11 to $6 with Aussie TAB this week to join Green Moon (2012), Zipping (2010), and Efficient (2009) as recent winners for Williams.
