Zarius took the honours in training at Matamata yesterday as the centre's four Kelt Capital Stakes candidates were put through their final workouts.
Galloping 25m out on a dead course proper, Zarius hit the line strongly after covering his last 1200m in 1:23.8 and final 600m in 37.5.
Co-trainer Lance O'Sullivan again rode Kelt second favourite Pentane, allowing him to stride over 1200m in 1:27.8 and 600m in 41.4. He was never at top and looked very comfortable at the finish.
Kristov and Kerry O'Reilly had their respective raceday jockeys Opie Bosson and Cameron Lammas in the saddle when they worked separately on the all-weather track. Kristov appeared to enjoy his bold hitout, with his final 1200m taking 1:17.8, the 1000m in 1:03.4 and 600m in 36.9.
Kerry O'Reilly was allowed a much easier task, finishing off two rounds of pacework with 800m in 55.4 and 600m in 39.6.
Hawkes Bay Guineas favourite Jokers Wild ran 1000m on the course proper in 1:08.8 and 600m in 39.7. His connections only concern is the likelihood of an off track on Saturday.
Stablemate Lionstar drew attention to her home track prospects on Saturday when clocking the fastest gallop on the course proper, 1200m in 1:21.5 and 600m in 37.4.
Arlingtonboulevard confirmed her fitness with 1200m in 1:23.8 and 600m in 39.6. Envoy got through his work well to run the last 1200m in 1:22.4 and 600m in 38.7.
Mohican Brave was never at top over 1200m in 1:26.2 and 600m in 38.9. Kenadaad ran 1200m in 1:27.5 and 600m in 42.2.
Zergar and Sweet Caroline were well matched over 1000m in 1:05.6, the last 600 in 38.6. Realign was more restrained over 1200m in 1:26.5 and 600m in 41 and Pinprick was kept up to his work over 1200m in 1:21 and 600m in 38.4.
On the sand, which was in good order, Multi Tasker looked good over 1000m in 1:05.4 and 600m in 38.9. Stablemate Dezigna ran a quiet 1000m in 1:10Danska Mill got through her work well to record 1:24 for 1200m.
Madamvizelle looked in good order for Hastings over 1000m in 1:04.8, the last 600m in 36.8.
* Kelt Stakes favourite Seachange was again in outstanding form at Cambridge when working on a dead No.l grass The markers were near the outside rail.
Seachange galloped l000m with Rags to Riches, timed in l:l.4, the concluding 600m in 35.6. Her chances of recording a unique Hastings treble were enhanced by the gallop.
My Hangover and Santoya matched strides over 800m in 5l.2. Both are in top order. The Silence Sir came to the end of 1000m in 1:6.3, sprinting the last 600m in 37.7.
Galloping on the No.2 grass Hawkes Bay Guineas aspirant Pinot Grigio was too strong for Rationalize at the completion of l000m in l:3, finishing off in 37.l.
Race rival Giovanni ran l000m with Svaneke over l000m in l:3.7, the 600m in 36.4.
Pinsoir covered 800m in 5l. Myriad went 1200m in 1:20.1, the last 600m in 38.2. Stellar Anne and Fashionable Lass ran 1200 in 1:18.3, the 600m in 38.2.
Last-start winner Garden Party finished his work-out with 600m in 39.3. * Mandela looked ready for his return to middle-distance racing at Hastings tomorrow when he galloped on the all-weather sand at Pukekohe yesterday.
Mandela covered the last 1200m of 1600 in 1:21.4, 1000 in 1:7.2 and 600 in 40.4.
Court In Action went fast through the early stages of 1000m then steadied to finish in 1:3.2, the last 600 in 40.7.
Rapid Rielle, a rival for Court In Action in the maiden 1100m at Matamata, was kept under a firm hold through 600 in 39.5. Cog Hill, Punt Higher and Superalloy each paceworked twice round.
