There is only a 1 per cent chance of Justa Tad running in New Zealand's richest race, the $1 million Kept Capital Stakes in September.
Justa Tad is currently the TAB's second favourite for the Kelt behind Derby winner Xcellent, but Megan Liefting, wife the filly's part owner and trainer Rudy Liefting, said they feel it is almost mission impossible to have Justa Tad fit enough.
"At the same time last year we couldn't get her ready enough to win at 1400m at the time of the Kelt."
Liefting said the worry was of cooking the filly by hammering her to be ready for what will be an extremely tough race.
"Everything in New Zealand will be going for the Kelt. If you pressure her to be ready, what have you got left afterwards when you can take your time and have her prepared for races in Australia, where the talent is more spread."
Justa Tad had a hard race to finish a wonderful second in the AJC Oaks at Randwick at Easter and has been back in work two weeks following a break.
"The last thing we want to do is rush her preparation. She would have to be extraordinarily brilliant in her work leading up to the Kelt to be even a chance of being there on the day."
