That still leaves Jones with four starters tonight and he rates Pomme Roy (R7) as clearly the best of them.
"I thought he was going to win last week until he got checked and this field is no stronger," says Jones.
"He has a junior driver on and we think he can lead and be too good.
"His work this week has been great so we are very keen."
Jones has engaged Zac Butcher to partner erratic filly Rocker Band (R6) after she has choked down in her past two starts.
"She has been pulling way too hard, so I am hoping the change of driver helps her settle better," says Jones.
"She is a talented filly but I think she still might struggle to beat Vice Consul because he has been racing well in better fields and might be too tough for our filly."
Jones admits he doesn't know what to expect from Zakspatrol (R4).
"He is a strange horse. He has the ability but when he starts to go poor he can continue that way and he disappointed last week."
That race looks to stack up nicely for First Holme, who is a seven-race winner and has a great record over tonight's 2700m. As a class two pacer racing predominantly class one rivals he is unlikely to find an easier assignment any time soon.
Three-year-old trotter Kowhai Monarch looked to have a future when winning for Jones last week but he says the step up to class one company in race three tonight could be tricky.
"He can be a bit slow away, which you can get away with in maiden grade, but it will be a lot harder up in grade over 2200m."
Meanwhile, multiple group one winning Kiwi pacer Smolda faces a very tricky task in tomorrow night's A$125,000 Blacks A Fake (formerly the Winter Cup) at Albion Park in Brisbane tomorrow night.
He starts from one on the second line and while he will relish the staying trip he is likely to settle behind favourite Philadelphia Man and many of his other key rivals.
"He is well in himself but I also don't think the track up there suits him as well as Menangle, which he just loves," said co-trainer Mark Purdon, who will partner Smolda tomorrow.
