KEY POINTS:
Trainer Clarry Conners can't wait for Victorian jockey Peter Robl to relocate to Sydney next month and become his stable jockey after the pair continued their post-equine influenza (EI) success with a double at Randwick yesterday.
Robl completed the brace on Kick 'N Chase in the Cargo Bar Handicap (1300m) after steering Our Mosstique to victory in the McGrath Estate Agents Plate.
The effort followed Robl's win on Cos In Court for Conners at Rosehill last Saturday, a victory which gave the four-time Golden Slipper winner the distinction of becoming the first Warwick Farm trainer to produce a Sydney metropolitan winner post-EI.
Conners was delighted with the form of his horses but put the success down to Robl who will move to Sydney fulltime in mid-January from Benalla.
Kick 'N Chase, who carried 59kg, was wayward down the straight and Robl was forced to use all his skills to balance the 3-year-old and score by a neck over Harrykay with Universal Magic third.
"He gave Peter a tough run but he just stuck at it and never gave up. We work hard enough as it is and I want somebody who can work hard for me too and that's what Pete does, and apart from everything else he's a good bloke.
"He's going to be a big asset to us, I'll tell you that."
Earlier in the day Our Mosstique, who started at $9, made a well-timed run down the straight and held off the fast-finishing Banana Split by a neck.
"I thought he was a good each-way chance that's all, so I was very happy with the way he went.
I tell you what, the rider goes all right too," said Conners. "He saved the horse up beautifully and timed the run to perfection."
