Wet weather in Sydney has resulted in a change of plans for Winter Cup winner Zabeel's Angel.
The five-year-old Zabeel mare had been earmarked to race in Melbourne on Saturday, but was flown to Sydney on Tuesday because of the chance of a wet track.
"They rang from Sydney and said it was raining," Auckland trainer Jenny Vance said yesterday.
Zabeel's Angel will race in the group two $A150,000 weight-for-age Chelmsford Stakes over 1400m at Randwick on Saturday.
The track could also be wet on Saturday in Melbourne where the race considered for Zabeel's Angel was the group two $A200,000 weight-for-age Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield.
The same race is also on the agenda of champion mare Sunline and Vance said it was best to avoid her where possible.
"We thought Sydney was a better option because there's no Sunline," she said.
Vance's husband Bob travelled with the horse.
"He says the horse is good and it is raining - so far so good," Vance said.
"We just hope that keeps up for the rest of the week."
Vance said the mount would be taken by Chris Munce who had previously ridden for the stable with success in Sydney.
