There is good news but the prospect of a long road ahead for injured jockey Rosie Myers.
Myers is out of her induced coma and the intensive care unit at Wellington Hospital where she spent 11 days after an accident at the Foxton trials two weeks ago.
Myers was riding the winner of a trial which shied after the event, dropping her to the track where a following horse made contact with her head.
The 33-year-old jockey was moved out of the ICU over the weekend to the neurological unit at Wellington Hospital but will be moved again to Hutt Hospital on Tuesday for surgery on fractures to her face suffered in the incident.
"Rosie is making some good little steps forward every day, which is really positive," says her husband William Fell.
