Legendary jumps trainer and former jockey Ken Browne has died at the age of 72.
In partnership with his wife Anne, Browne trained nine great Northern Steeplechase winners and three Great Northern Hurdles winners.
During a long riding career, Brown rode 156 winners over fences, 54 in hurdle races and 102 over steeplechase courses during a career spanning more than 50 years.
He had a win at the McGreggor Grant Steeples at Ellerslie over Queens Birthday weekend and two victories at Waipa last Sunday.*
He was paralysed from the neck down in a fall during training in 2001.
