Rumours swept Melbourne late last night that a A$40 million to A$50 million offer had been made for sensational Melbourne Cup favourite So You Think.
Herald racing writer Mike Dillon said that unofficially, it is understood the offer, for a potential stud career, had conditions.
One is that the horse not run in tomorrow's A$6 million Melbourne Cup.
A counter-offer is understood to contain an option for part-owner Dato Tan Chin Nam of Malaysia to retain an ownership share. Dato Tan owns So You Think in partnership with Tunku Ahmad Yahaya.
So You Think is one of the shortest-priced Melbourne Cup favourites of the last couple of decades at $3.20 yesterday after brilliantly winning Saturday's A$1 million Mackinnon Stakes on a rain-soaked Flemington.
