KEY POINTS:
Opie Bosson is returning to New Zealand to be reunited with the top Waikato stable of Mark Walker.
Bosson, 27, cut short his six-month Singapore contract and said he would be back in action in New Zealand on January 3.
He had his last ride in Singapore last Sunday after beginning his contract on September 1 and is at present holidaying in Ireland.
Bosson said Walker and David Ellis, who operates Te Akau Stables in Matamata, had been keen to regain his services.
"I'm just coming back to ride for Te Akau," Bosson said. "I was getting a little bit homesick and Dave and Mark wanted me home."
Bosson had been Walker's stable rider before leaving for Singapore.
He was just starting to make his mark in Singapore after a slow start.
In his first two months he had just three wins but in recent weeks had been riding the crest of a wave, including victory in the S$1.35 million ($1.24 million) Singapore Gold Cup.
He had three wins over the Friday-Sunday meeting last week, which took his tally to 10 wins and 24 placings from 86 rides. Eight of his wins were equally split on horses from the stables of former New Zealand trainers Laurie Laxon and Bruce Marsh.
"I was starting to go all right," Bosson said, adding he would like to return to Singapore at another time.
Last season Bosson won three group one races for Walker.
