Trentham officials are confident they will have a meeting tomorrow, but it will be a day for mudlarks with a heavy track a certainty.
While there has been heavy rain in the capital this week and the track copped plenty of it on Tuesday night, only 5mm fell on Wednesday.
"It's going to be heavy, but there was no surface water this morning, so that is pleasing," Trentham's chief executive Matt Reid said yesterday.
Punters will be looking for mudlarks with a heavy 11 rating - the deepest on the grading system - listed yesterday.
Kuda Mahal, from the Levin stable of Jane and Norman Wood, is a good wet tracker in the $40,000 North Island Challenge, but a heavy 11 will really test the Al Akbar gelding, Jane Wood said.
