The Hawkes Bay race meeting, scheduled for Hastings tomorrow, has been transferred to Foxton but without the two feature jumps races.
Hawkes Bay Racing general manager John McGifford yesterday confirmed an eight-race programme will be run at Foxton, starting at 12.05pm.
It will consist of the seven flat races that were to be run at Hastings tomorrow as well as the novice hurdle race from last Saturday's cancelled Wellington meeting.
"The meeting has been transferred to Foxton minus the Wellington Steeples and Wellington Hurdles, both of which have been dropped," McGifford said. "We also dropped the novice steeplechase because of a lack of entries."
Chief stipendiary steward Noel McCutcheon went to Hastings to inspect the track surface yesterday and deemed it unsuitable for racing.
More than 100mm of rain had fallen on the Hastings track in the past week and course manager Garry Foskett said the course proper was the heaviest he had seen it in more than 30 years.
