Racing: Hay List faces vet test before William Reid start

Odds-on favourite Hay List is under an injury cloud ahead of the group one William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley.

Trainer John McNair advised stewards yesterday that the last-start Newmarket Handicap winner had been treated for a bruised near-fore heel.

Hay List eased marginally from $1.35 favouritism to $1.40 for tomorrow night's William Reid (1200m) after stewards scheduled a veterinary inspection of the gelding today.

Buffering, who was beaten in a photo-finish by Hay List in the Newmarket at Flemington on March 10, firmed from $10 to $9.

Lone Rock who is one of the outsiders at $31 with TAB Sportsbet has drawn barrier five alongside Hay List in four in the eight-horse field.

Buffering has drawn gate three while Foxwedge ($12) has the rails. Woorim ($12) is a backmarker and looks suitably drawn on the outside.

Beaded (two) is at $15 ahead of Cox Plate third placegetter Rekindled Interest ($16) in barrier six. Mid Summer Music has barrier seven and is the other $31 outsider.
