Open-class trotter Allegro Agitato appears set for a Ashburton Flying Trotting Mile hat-trick at Ashburton Raceway on Monday.
The 8-year-old Sundon mare rounded out her preparation with a second to stablemate Let's Get Serious at the Oamaru trials on Wednesday.
And while she stepped away just fine from the standing start at the trial, her speciality is behind the mobile, where she has finished in the money all but twice in 17 starts.
The trial was just what trainer Phil Williamson was after.
"We didn't want any gutbusting trials before the race so we'll go into it and see what happens," Williamson said.
"They both went pretty good - we went home pretty fast"
Williamson believes Jasmyn's Gift, who faded to eighth at Addington last week after picking up a punctured sulky tyre 2000m from home, is the best of his chances this weekend, lining up in the handicap trot.
"If she gets the right run, she can definitely win [but] she can get beat easily enough if things don't go her way," Williamson said.
He also rates Let's Get Serious a chance, particularly after wife Bev piloted the 5-year-old to a trial win over Allegro Agitato on Wednesday.
"She likes beating her husband," Williamson laughed.
