KEY POINTS:
It will be more than a week before a penalty is decided for top jockey Chris Johnson, who has been found guilty of not giving a horse all reasonable chance to win a race.
It was announced yesterday that a Judicial Control Authority panel had found Johnson guilty for his ride on the Jeff Lynds-trained Futureproof in a $12,000 rating 92 event at the Wairarapa track of Tauherenikau on February 6.
At the hearing in Wellington on March 19, chief stipendiary steward Cameron George said Johnson twice failed to take advantage of opportunities to improve his position.
Futureproof, racing at the back of the field, was eventually pushed through a gap in the straight and came home strongly to be beaten a long neck.
Yesterday's ruling said parties had been given seven days in which to make submissions regarding penalty.
