Racing: Gold Trail tunes up with trial win

SYDNEY: Gold Trail will leave for Singapore on Wednesday night for the Group One KrisFlyer International Sprint after completing his preparations for the trip with a barrier trial win yesterday.

The Gary Portelli-trained Group One-winning sprinter was given a solid hitout in an 800m heat on the course proper at Warwick Farm.

The gelding took up the running on the inside of Bryannbo's Gift and went on to win the trial by 1-1/4 lengths in 47.4 seconds. "That's all we wanted," Portelli said. "It was a nice hitout before he heads to Singapore."
