KEY POINTS:
BRISBANE - Star filly Gold Edition, one of the big drawcards at Doomben tomorrow, is not for sale and won't be following the same path to stud just yet as her former stablemate Pure Energy.
Owner Kevin O'Brien sold Golden Slipper runner-up Pure Energy to Darley Stud last week for an undisclosed sum.
Gold Edition will make her Brisbane return in the Mode Handicap (1200m) in which she has drawn wide in barrier 13 and will carry topweight of 61kg.
The remainder of the 15-horse field will carry the minimum 53kg.
Gold Edition has not been seen in Brisbane since finishing second to Danleigh in the group two QTC Sires' Produce Stakes (1400m) at Eagle Farm in June.
She thrilled her legions of fans in Sydney during the autumn and spring before stamping herself as Australia's best sprinting filly with victory in the group one Ascot Vale Stakes (1200m) and Schweppes Stakes (1200m) at Flemington last month by huge margins.
Maund has warned he's keeping an open mind on starting Gold Edition with the hot weather playing a key role in his decision making.
Last summer, Gold Edition fell victim to the heat and does not seem to enjoy the stifling Queensland weather.
"The question of what price we sold Pure Energy for is up to Darley Stud to reveal but Gold Edition is not for sale," O'Brien said.
"We intend to keep her [Gold Edition] as part of our breeding operations later on and she's not for sale."
