New Zealand Bloodstock's 2005 Premier Sale was always going to attract buyers from around the world, particularly with 20 Danehill-sired yearlings going through the sale ring.
The Southern Hemisphere progeny of Danehill were in demand at the recent Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale where 14 yearlings sold for a huge average of $475,357.
Twelve yearling fillies and eight colts of the final crop of Danehill will feature in the 2005 Sale at Karaka which begins on January 31.
"We are very excited to have 20 of the final southern bred Danehill yearlings to offer at public auction," said Petra Vela, New Zealand Bloodstock's marketing and public relations manager.
"Those offered on the Gold Coast sold very well but there just weren't enough to go around.
"We hope those buyers who are still shopping for a Danehill ensure they take up this opportunity by coming to Karaka."
Danehill's progeny provided the top priced lots at the Gold Coast sale with international buyer Demi O'Byrne paying $950,000 for a colt.
Bloodstock agent Dean Watt paid $625,000 for a Danehill filly from the Group One winner Tis Juliet.
Pencarrow Stud will offer the largest consignment of Danehill yearlings at the Karaka Sale.
Nine yearlings - four colts and five fillies - will be part of a powerful consignment from Pencarrow Stud who will also offer stock by other leading stallions Black Minnaloushe, Canny Lad, Catbird, Centaine, Generous, Montjeu, O'Reilly, Viscount and Zabeel.
Danehill was in commanding form at the 2004 Premier Yearling Sale with two colt sons fetching over $1 million.
Bidding starts at 11 am on January 31 with 522 yearlings offered over the three days of the Premier Sale. Buyers from England, Ireland, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Africa and Australia are expected to attend.
After the premier sale, the Select (February 3-4) and Festival Sales (February 6-7) will be held at Karaka.
