Fair Tax chairman Rob McAnulty was quick to defend his group against possible allegations over the controversial Section 16 issue of racing revenue distribution.
McAnulty was keen for the harness racing industry to understand that the Fair Tax article in yesterday's Herald was not his ginger group pushing for change in the Section 16 rules.
The issue is the division for the three racing codes of monies generated from Australian racing on New Zealand television.
"There is a lot of mis-information out there over the issue," said McAnulty.
"The story that National's intention to re-investigate the issue may have led some people to think that Fair Tax had pushed for this policy. That is most definitely not the case.
"We have been single minded in the pursuit of one issue and one issue only and that is Fair Tax.
"We have good rapport with the harness industry over Fair Tax. There is a unity at the moment that has previously been missing in racing and that's something we want to preserve at all costs.
"We have had, and continue to have, very positive dialogue with harness racing, in particular with the likes of Ian Shaw and Sid Holloway.
"Tomorrow night at Alexandra Park is the last time we can use the black Fair Tax colours and the way they've been winning, people should take note!"
