Former New Zealand jockey Shane Dye was yesterday transferred out of the intensive care unit in a Hong Kong hospital.
Dye, 39, suffered serious head injuries in a race fall in Hong Kong last Sunday.
Waikato bloodstock agent Robbie Hewetson said Dye appeared to be making good progress after brain surgery.
Hewetson was at Sunday's race meeting and later followed Dye to hospital. "He's out of ICU, he came out this morning," Hewetson said yesterday. "It's all very encouraging."
