Jag Star will enjoy the return to mobile start racing when contesting the $8000 Taranaki Cup at New Plymouth today.
The 6-year-old failed to fire in his last-start in the Manukau Cup at Alexandra Park when battling into 12th place behind Innocent Bystander. Jag Star will appreciate the drop in class and will be a short-priced favourite in the 2700 metre mobile feature.
Lady Retton is the horse to beat after recording a gallant last-start effort to finish fifth in a standing start event at Cambridge Raceway on Thursday night. That was her first race outing in five weeks and should strip her down a far fitter horse for this mobile event.
