Class act Dr Green is highly unlikely to make a fresh-up appearance at New Plymouth tomorrow.
Punters and the Taranaki Jockey Club had been greatly looking forward to seeing the colt, whose last start was in the A$3 million Golden Slipper in Sydney on March 19.
Dr Green was entered only because Cambridge trainer Brian Jenkins noticed that the $35,000 La Nuova Apparelmaster Stakes initially attracted just nine nominations.
Jenkins nominated Commisar and Dr Green and the former is the more likely to run, although there is even an element of doubt about him.
"Originally I was taking most of my team to the Taupo trials next week. Then I had the thought that they may as well go to Taranaki and run around for some money instead."
Jenkins has Dr Green aimed at the Wanganui Guineas in two weeks.
Being unable to engage a suitable jockey made up Jenkins' mind not to run.
"Hayden [Tinsley] couldn't make the 54kg at the moment, which is a shame because it's an attractive race with its set-weights conditions - Dr Green comes into the race very nicely.
"He's not an easy horse to ride and I couldn't just put anyone on him."
The way Never Ending won at Riccarton last week suggests he will taken plenty of beating.
As the only three-race winner in the lineup, he comes in the best under the weight scale.
Commisar has not raced since he won at Woodville in January.
But he showed that he was forward with an easy trials win at Rotorua.
