Trainers' objections to holding the Doncaster Handicap on the final day of next year's Sydney autumn carnival were overruled by the Australian Jockey Club yesterday.
Trainer John O'Shea said the AJC had given precedence to commercial interests by holding the feature mile on May 3, the same day as the Sydney Cup. But AJC chief executive Norman Gillespie said the carnival had to be condensed due to the equine influenza outbreak.
