The decision on an appeal by New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing (NZTR) against a penalty imposed on Waikato trainer Mark Walker has been reserved, the Judicial Control Authority said yesterday.
The appeal hearing was held in Auckland on Tuesday and was heard by judge John Clapham (chairman) and Eddie Doherty.
Walker was originally suspended for four months and fined $5000 for altering a jumping certificate to allow a horse to run in a jumpers' flat race at Te Aroha on May 3.
NZTR said the suspension was "manifestly inappropriate" and should be replaced with a term of disqualification.
Disqualification prevents a person from setting foot on a licensed premises like a racetrack or a trainer's property.
