Peter Davis is the replacement driver for unbeaten Paramount Geegee in the New Zealand Trotting Stakes at Addington on Friday night.
Davis drove Paramount Geegee to win a workout at Rangiora by 25 lengths over 2000m (mobile) in 2:36.3, the last 800m in 59.2, on Saturday.
Paramount Geegee has won his five starts, including the $82,875 Sales Series Trot for 2-year-olds at Ashburton at his last outing on March 23.
His Cambridge trainer John Dickie has Paramount Geegee quartered with Robbie Holmes at Leithfield Beach, North Canterbury.
Holmes, who fractured his collarbone and was concussed in a fall at workouts on April 10, was stood down from driving a car or being in a race for six weeks because it was his second concussion within two months.
He has also had to forfeit the drive on juvenile Amazing Art. He has driven the Lew Driver-trained pacer to win a heat of the Sires' Stakes at Addington and a second to Major Mark in the Welcome Stakes.
Craig Thornley is back on Amazing Art for the $250,000 Sales Series race at Addington on May 15. He drove the Artsplace colt to win over a mile in 1:57.6 at Ashburton in February and was also in the sulky in a workout at Motukarara on Saturday.
He won by a neck from stablemate Patch Maguire, who is in the Sales Series for 2-year-old fillies at Alexandra Park on Friday. Her best effort in seven starts is a fourth to Bettor Cover Lover at Addington in February.
