On an easy No 1 grass, 5m out, DanceInTheSun ran 800m in 51.3, the 600 in 35.9. Manawatu Sires' Produce hope Lady Dehere was restricted to pacework and a breeze down the straight. She looked superb.
At Te Rapa, Esther Mary excelled with 1000m on a good plough in 1:3.4, the 600 in 37.8.
Mattstar went 1000m in 1:6 (39) and Noble Prospect in 1:2 (38). Ismalia stretched out well from the 1000 in 1:6, the 600 in 39.2.
Arlanda cruised 600m in 39.1. Avondale candidate Ask The Dancer was not asked for his best over 1000 in 1:6.7, the 600 in 39.5.
Avon Grosve indicated good prospects again on her home track when galloping 1000m on a deep plough at Avondale. She returned 1:5.9, the 600 in 38.1.
Shading was keen to go faster than 39.8 for 600m. Siana Ice looked in excellent order when cantering once round.
