KEY POINTS:
After the battle Frank Cooney had to win just to get on One Dream at Alexandra Park tomorrow the race itself should be a breeze.
Cooney is only allowed to drive the champion filly in the $130,000 Sires' Stakes Championship after appealing against a suspension he was handed at Alexandra Park last Friday.
But it wasn't as simple as that, with stipendiary stewards objecting to his stay of proceedings in the belief he was only appealing so he could drive One Dream tomorrow.
That objection was rejected by the JCA so Cooney will take his seat behind One Dream tomorrow.
And that should be the hardest part of the assignment as the glamour filly looks set to extend her winning sequence to eight.
While co-trainer Clare McGowan says the ace draw is not ideal for the sometimes fiery filly, it is impossible to imagine her getting beaten as she has high gate speed and the sort of reputation that will intimidate most of her rivals.
"And she is a lot better than last start," warns McGowan. "She wasn't as her best then but has improved enormously since."
That makes One Dream (R9, No 1) the anchor in tomorrow's $100,000 Pick6, with Running On Faith (12) and The Black Pearl (10), who is drawn to follow the favourite throughout, the trifecta chances.
While One Dream looks the bet of the day that honour could just as easily have fallen to Awesome Armbro (R10, No2).
He was stunning winning over the same distance last week and has the draw to lead, giving him a huge advantage over key rival Powerball (4). Robyn Blue (1), with the chance to trail, looks the trifecta hope.
One of tomorrow's best races is the $75,000 National Trot but it is one punters would much rather be able to bet on a few hundred metres after the start.
Because if Allegro Agitato (R6, No6) can work her way to the lead then she should win her third feature race in 16 days.
But if she has to work, or arch-rival Pompallier (1) can hold the lead, the race will set up beautifully for One Over Kenny (9).
The latter has emerged as potentially the best trotter in the country and will only need luck, or a hot pace sapping her rivals, to grab her first major open class win.
The interesting runner is Our Sunny Whiz (7), who has looked freakish at times but will be having her first mobile start tomorrow. On her best behaviour she can win but she has inexperience and the draw against her.
With final field fixed odds betting on all 13 races even small dividends could significantly boost the end result and one punters can rely on is Fergiemack (R5, No7).
He was outstanding beating a hot 3-year-old field last start and trainer-driver Tony Herlihy is considering the Victoria Derby with the speedster.
Power Of Tara (R7, No5) looks another top each way chance in a form-packed event, with the 2700m likely to suit the former southern stayer.
