Gareth Dixon knows his 3-year-old trotter Super Command has one quality that will prove tough to beat at Cranbourne today - great racing manners.
Dixon produced Super Command 12 months ago to win the Australasian Breeders Crown Final for 2-year-old trotters.
He is confident his charge can threaten today, in the 3-year-old final of the same series.
"The field for the 3-year-old final this year is outstanding as there are some outstanding young trotters including Acacia Ridge, Jauriol and [My] Rhythm Of The Night," said Dixon.
"It's a pity that Acacia Ridge has drawn so well at barrier five, because he is the horse to beat. We're drawn beside him at barrier six and John Caldow [driver] will have to go forward at the start to get a sit close to the pace.
"My horse will really thrive over the sprint distance [2105 metres]. He has impeccable racing manners and that's very important heading into a big race.
"There will be a large crowd at Cranbourne and sometimes the big occasion can get to some of these young horses."
Dixon will also be represented by Star Of The Ball in the final for 3-year-old pacing fillies.
Star Of The Ball finished an unlucky second in her semi-final on Tuesday night after being forced to cover extra ground.
The final contains a quality field including Ladyinred, Molly Darling, White Thunder, Triliner and Clarenden Esprit.
"Star Of The Ball has drawn on the second row but she should get a nice run through the field at the start and settle close to the pace.
"She's booked to go to stud at the end of the year and will be served by Christian Cullen and a Group One placing would increase her broodmare value."
