The way Turn Me Loose races suggests he could be a strong Derby contender in March, but Baker has yet to be convinced the colt will be effective beyond 1600m.
"I'm not sure he's not just a 1600m horse."
If not the Derby, the options for Turn Me Loose could include the rich Guineas races in Melbourne in the New Year.
"He's owned in Melbourne, so that would be the logical step," says Baker.
The Cambridge horseman said Turn Me Loose had travelled well to Christchurch.
Vinnie Eagle is also highly talented and if he can stretch his distance out to the 1600m he will take heading.
Prince Mambo is another who should appreciate this roomy track and the 1600m. He looked to have his chance when fifth in the Sarten Memorial behind his stablemate O'Marilyn, but his Hawkes Bay Guineas close second to Turn Me Loose was a beaut effort.
Trainer Lisa Latta has a big opinion of Platinum Witness, one of the two fillies in the Guineas.
"All I want is good barrier," she said at the Melbourne Cup at Flemington on Tuesday where she was assisting in leading a Cup tour. The filly has barrier No 3.

Controversial former champion jockey Lisa Cropp will make her comeback to race-riding at Te Rapa tomorrow.
Cropp, 44, has been booked for three rides, aboard horses trained by Windsor Park Stud's private trainer Chris McNab - Rolling In The Deep, Double Parked and Trepidation.
Cropp, who won the New Zealand jockeys' premiership three times - in 2005, 2006 and 2007 - was banned for nine months in 2009 after testing positive to methamphetamine in 2005.
She returned to riding in 2010 in Melbourne and rode there for 17 months before returning to New Zealand, where she edged closer to 1000 wins in this country.
She will be out to add to that tally of 970 New Zealand wins tomorrow when she returns to race-riding for the first time since June 25, 2012. Her last win came aboard the Mark Brosnan-trained Danrose at Tauranga two days earlier.
Soon afterwards she announced she was putting her racing career on hold to follow a career in showjumping.
Cropp was unable to be contacted but posted on Facebook: "I'm returning to the race track this week." McNab was delighted to have the services of Cropp, who applied for the position of trackwork rider at Windsor Park and got the job, sparking aspirations of returning to raceday riding. "She's fit and keen and I'm pleased to have her on," McNab said.
"She's world-class. You forget just how good a rider she is but you see her riding trackwork and it's all there. We're putting our clangers on the line but Roddy and Nelson [Schick, Windsor Park Stud owners] have been down to see her ride and they're happy.
"She starts with a clean slate with us. I've got no qualms about putting her on. I'll be quite happy to hand her the colours on Saturday." Additional reporting NZ Racing Desk
Punting pointers
Unbeaten when fresh: Allez Eagle, R7 Te Rapa. Awkwardly drawn but very talented.
Take the shorts: Turn Me Loose, R7 Riccarton. The 2000 Guineas looks readymade for him.
Each way value: Hi Yo Soo, R8 Te Rapa. Better run than it looks on paper at Trentham last start.
