Star Satire will think the world hates her when she gets to the start for the Cambridge Thoroughbred Sale at Avondale tomorrow.
The class filly will almost certainly start a short-priced favourite, but just about everything will be against her when she fronts up.
That is not to say she cannot overcome them.
Star Satire is using this as a final lead-up to the $150,000 Bayer Classic on November 30.
Ideally she would be racing against her own age, but timewise this race fits in perfectly for trainer Ross Taylor.
It means Star Satire gives away considerable weight to some smart older horses.
She has to give 4-year-old Classic Babe 2.5kg, where under weight-for-age conditions she would be receiving weight from Classic Babe.
But class is what horses use to overcome such things.
In addition to giving away weight, Star Satire has drawn awkwardly at No13, but Taylor's only concern is something less than a firm track.
"Provided the track is good she will be there and be hard to beat," said Taylor last night.
Star Satire took on the older horses for the first time last start and in a stronger field than this.
She was run down late to finish a close third.
That was at 1600m and Taylor is pleased this race is 200m shorter.
"She tends to freshen up quickly between races and the 1400m is much more appropriate at the moment than 1600m."
Despite being vulnerable, Star Satire should simply have too much class.
Classic Babe displayed very good potential as a 3-year-old last season. She comes in fresh here and over 1400m she may throw in a top run from the No1 barrier.
She had a quiet trial at Ellerslie last week to fit her for this.
My Happiness is another danger.
She was only one and a half lengths away in fourth after sitting outside the leader at Pukekohe last start and is more likely to be able to get to the lead early in this field.
Former Woodville-based galloper Our Mr Bowie can go close to taking his first northern win in the Plusone Restaurant 1600.
He has improved with each of his three starts this campaign.
Our Mr Bowie was a luckless second to Hello Dolly at Pukekohe last start, but his performance there suggests a win was close.
Straight Back and Call Minder are strong chances.
