KEY POINTS:
A feast of quality canine action is on the menu at the Manukau Stadium tonight as the Pacific Sheet & Coil Auckland Cup greyhound carnival swings into stride.
Six Auckland Cup heats over 527 metres will determine which eight greyhounds will chase the $75,000 final next Thursday night.
The support act is also appealing as the speed merchants seek the opportunity to return for the $20,000 First Sovereign Trust Railway Sprint on Cup night.
Winsome Ashley cemented favouritism for the Cup with her 14-length destruction of the Wellington Cup field at her last start and firmed further following a sensational 30.12 second (track record 30.07s) solo trial at Manukau last Sunday.
She comes from the Fahey kennel which will line up a potent squad, including New Zealand Cup winner Winsome Daisy and NZ Shootout winner Aussie Opawa. Northern interest will focus on the 13 Schofield-trained chasers.
