KEY POINTS:
Harness racing's busiest driver believes his detour to Ashburton to drive Heza Brite Native today will be worth it.
Champion reinsman Anthony Butt is in the middle of a crazy week, having driven at Alexandra Park in Auckland on Friday night and Moonee Valley in Melbourne on Saturday.
He achieved his goals at both venues, qualifying West Coast Anvil for the Great Northern Derby at Alexandra Park this Friday and pacer Report For Duty and trotter My Rhythm Of The Night for their respective Interdominion finals at Moonee Valley.
But that is going to mean no rest for Butt.
After driving at Ashburton today he heads back to Alexandra Park on Friday night for not only West Coast Anvil but to be reunited with New Zealand Cup placegetter Tribute in the free-for-all lead-up to the Auckland Trotting Cup.
And the next morning he catches the first flight to Melbourne for the Interdominion finals.
While such rich races makes today's $4500 race seem a little irrelevant, Butt said he was looking forward to the drive. "He is a nice horse and could develop into a good trotter," he said.
"This is a penalty-free race and if he does everything right he has to be very hard to beat."
