KEY POINTS:
As much as the 60kg makes Bulginbaah concede big weights to the opposition at Hastings tomorrow, it's difficult to make a case that any one of them can beat him.
Bulginbaah has clear topweight of 5kg in the $20,000 NZ Contractors Federation 1400 and is conceding 7kg to the horses in the minimum weight.
But when you consider he has won 16 races and the remainder have won 46 between them he doesn't look that badly off.
Four starts ago Bulginbaah carried 59.5kg and in his last race 59kg, so he's used to big weights.
He's won his last two and the way he disposed of the weight-for-age field at Wanganui last start by coming up three lengths leads you to believe the 60kg may not be beyond him this time.
"This isn't his main mission," says co-trainer Ken Cropp.
"We are keen to run him in the Opunake Cup and it's been difficult to find him a lead-up race."
The Waikato Stud Opunake Cup has an outstanding stake of $100,000 at New Plymouth on July 19.
This won't be easy for Bulginbaah, but he should get away with it.
TAB bookies have offered a generous $2.80 quote about Bulginbaah with Mega Belt second favourite at $3.50 and Jonbalena at $5.50.
Apprentice Sam Fieldes has the ride.
Rat Tat, winner of 11 races, came back to winning form last start.
And on the heavy surface he seems certain to strike ... he's not the worst chance.
