"Because the colt was second-up, Matty [Mat Cameron] did not want to go forward and give him a tough race, so he elected to drop back.
"He ended up at the back of the field in a paceless race. I thought his effort overall was terrific because he took two lengths off the winner from the 500m.
"His first race was at 1400m and it wasn't ideal to go back to 1400m, but you don't have options when you're following the 3-year-old races.
"He's looking for further already."
Sacred Park won the Bonecrusher stylishly and looked superb in the parade. He is a lovely type of Thorn Park colt and gives the impression he will keep improving.
"Better ground than that will suit him nicely," said rider Leith Innes.
Trainers Tony Pike and Mark Donoghue won last year's 2000 Guineas with Sacred Falls for the same owners and are obviously targeting this year's contest at Riccarton.
"He's a different type, but very progressive," said Pike.
Going into Saturday's races, Bridgman was anxious for Spellbinder to come out of the Soliloquy Stakes in good condition.
"She puts so much into everything she does," he said, obviously thinking the filly might take too much out of herself to continue with a 1000 Guineas preparation.
The 6-length margin underlined that, but yesterday Bridgman was able to confirm Spellbinder had come through the race as well as could be expected.
"She's pulled up nice and sound, too, which is wonderful.
"She's one that will always leave everything on the track when she's asked to do something. She's a real runner."
Stablemate Ruthless Lady forged ahead gamely in the home straight to take second ahead of a game Zanotti, who had been three and four wide the entire trip.
"She [Ruthless Lady] showed us what we wanted to see.
"She won't be competitive with the best fillies until she get to 1600m and beyond so she can go out in the paddock now and come back with an Oaks-type preparation in mind."
