Class prevailed in the Keith Nolan Classic on Saturday as Brazilian Pulse raced to victory at her first Sydney start.
The Keith Nolan meeting at Kembla Grange was abandoned last Sunday but the fillies' feature was added to the Rosehill Guineas programme with the distance increased to 1800m.
VRC Oaks winner Brazilian Pulse ($1.65 fav) was also entered for the Ajax Stakes (1500m) but trainer Mike Moroney elected to run in the Nolan and the star filly didn't let her supporters down, defeating Fibrillation ($16) by half a length with another length to Honor Net ($17) in third.
Brazilian Pulse carried 4kg more than all her rivals and firmed from $4.80 to $4.40 favourite with TAB Sportsbet for next month's Group One AJC Australian Oaks (2400m).
Moroney said Brazilian Pulse's most likely path would be to back up in next Saturday's Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill before going on to the Oaks at Randwick on April 16.
"She was a bit more relaxed here today but I think she's still got more improvement to come.
"She got a lovely run until about three-quarters of the way through, then she got shoved off the track and if she was ever going to do anything wrong going right-handed she had the opportunity to do it."
