KEY POINTS:
MELBOURNE - Hugh Bowman will make his Cox Plate debut on Turnbull Stakes winner Devil Moon after Corey Brown failed to convince the racing appeals and disciplinary board he should be allowed to retain the mount at Moonee Valley on Saturday.
Brown was suspended for 12 meetings for careless riding at last week's Thousand Guineas fixture at Caulfield but only had two meetings shaved off on appeal and can't ride until next Wednesday's Werribee Cup programme.
Bowman was thrilled to get the call up after a bout of food poisoning prevented him from riding the four-year-old mare for the first time in the group one Turnbull Stakes (2000m) at Flemington on October 6.
"I'm really looking forward to it," Bowman said. "I'm relaxed and quietly confident, to be honest.
"She's got great form going in to the race and I think her Turnbull win was dominant."
Trainer Mark Kavanagh this week paid a A$110,000 ($132,000) late entry fee for Devil Moon to take her place in the Cox Plate field along side her stablemate, last-start Toorak Handicap winner Divine Madonna.
Devil Moon who was placed in the group one Australasian Oaks, has won her last three starts, stepping up in class each time.
Michael Rodd rode her when she won last month's group three Let's Elope (1400m) at Flemington and group two Cranes Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley while Brown replaced Bowman in the Turnbull which she won in a photo finish from Scenic Shot.
