KEY POINTS:
Opie Bosson received a $1900 fine for wearing an unapproved safety vest at Avondale yesterday.
Early in the day stipendiary steward Cameron George spotted Bosson wearing a vest that is approved in Asia, but which has failed a compaction test in this part of the world.
George warned Bosson not to use the vest during the day and discovered that Bosson had used the vest for his ride in Race 3.
"Opie Bosson was fined $1500 for wearing the unapproved vest and $400 for disobeying an instruction," said Cameron.
"The biggest problem for jockeys is that if they have an accident wearing this type of vest they are not covered [for insurance]. The rule is there for their protection."
