KEY POINTS:
The old firm of Peter Moody and jockey Scott Seamer teamed up to produce a Queensland Oaks boilover when Melbourne filly Riva San won the Group One feature at Eagle Farm yesterday.
Riva San, who covered more ground than any other runner on a heavy track, stormed home from near last in the early stages of the 2400m feature to down fellow Victorian Rathsallagh by a long neck.
Glamour Sydney filly Heavenly Glow, the $1.85 favourite, fought on valiantly for third another long head away after also skirting the field with Riva San from near the rear of the field.
But Seamer and Robert Thompson, the rider of Heavenly Glow have been outed for careless riding in the Oaks. They have two days to appeal.
Moody, who will saddle up Magnus in the Group One King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot in England next month, has had a long and successful association with Seamer since his early days as a trainer in Brisbane.
"For me this is a happy homecoming. I've won two races here today and they were both my former stable riders," Moody said. "I won with Tan Tat De Lago which Jim Byrne rode and now Scott has won this.
"I can always call on Scott when I need him and he'll travel anywhere to ride for me.
"Scott has won some big races for me including Ancient Song in the Salinger (2003)."
Seamer, who turns 40 in three weeks, collected his 21st Group One victory with Riva San's win. He returned to riding only four weeks ago after breaking his collarbone in a fall.
