Premier Sydney trainer Chris Waller, formerly from Foxton, has claimed his third Doncaster Mile with Sacred Falls beating glamour colt Pierro in the $2 million race at Randwick yesterday.
In an all three-year-old finish, Sacred Falls drove through on the inside section of the track to overhaul the favourite with the filly Norzita taking third.
Sacred Falls' victory sealed a red-letter day for Waller, who also trained Royal Descent to win the Australian Oaks in one of the easiest victories seen in the glamour race.
"We made a decision at basically one o'clock that we were going run," winning trainer Chris Waller said.
On a rain-soaked track, Royal Descent worked her way into the race from the middle stages before joining the leaders with an inside run on the home turn.
