After sitting three wide in mid-field, she ranged up early in the home straight and put a space on the opposition to score by 3.8 lengths.
Significantly, Lady Le Fay did not have a gut-buster and has progressed well since, according to co-trainer Paul Shailer.
"She came through that race magnificently," said Shailer at the Karaka sale yesterday.
He admits to being pleasantly surprised at the ease of last week's win.
"I couldn't believe she could run away and win like that after the work she did."
One of the keys is that Lady Le Fay has just 53kg at the bottom of the handicap with two other mares Postmans Daughter, who only last Saturday contested the 3200m New Zealand Cup at Riccarton, and The Tidy Express at 59kg and 58kg.
Given the tough task for those mares, the danger could also come from the bottom of the handicap in the form of Delago's Secret, another on 53kg. Delago's Secret looked devastating in winning in his first start back from a spell at Matamata.
He was less impressive when only sixth at Tauranga last week, but the second start back can often be problematical and stepping up to 2100m and with now two races behind him something better can be expected.
The Tidy Express looked good winning at Ellerslie on Melbourne Cup Day, but will have no easy task under her 58kg.
Twenty-three months away from the races will bring most horses undone, but Mosse will yet again try to prove he's no ordinary horse in tomorrow's $50,000 IMG Counties Bowl.
Mosse last raced in January last year after which he had an operation to remove a cyst behind a knee.
The winner of five from six was given a barrier trial in October, but was way too fresh.
"He was extremely rank that day and wanted to be too aggressive," said part owner and co-trainer John Bell.
Taken to the Cambridge barrier trials last week, Mosse behaved himself and got to the line nicely into third without having any pressure applied.
"He got a lot of confidence from that run," said Bell.
Despite the long absence away from the races Mosse is expected to be competitive tomorrow.
"There is no excess weight on him like you might expect with a horse that hasn't raced for a couple of years."
Another topliner in Ruud Awakening is resuming in this race.
She last raced in April and won a recent Cambridge barrier trial, coming into this race from a favourable inside barrier draw.
In what should be an outstanding sprint, La Valeta, Barbaric and Durham Town, even with 60kg, all have claims.
Punting pointers
Forgive: Kelly O'Reilly (R6 Avondale). Raced below her when beaten favourite last start, but can bounce back.
Just Too Good: Show The World (R1 Avondale). Found his form and a stayer with a big future.
Class: Mosse (R9 Avondale). Couple of years away from racing, but looked good at the trials. Beaten only once.
