KEY POINTS:
The week has already been a momentous one for apprentice Mitchell Beadman but it is set to get even bigger when he makes his metropolitan riding debut at Randwick today.
The teenage son of record-breaking jockey Darren has four mounts, all for his master John Hawkes.
He will ride against his famous father in the quartet of races with Darren fully booked for the eight-race card on the Kensington track.
The Beadmans competed against each other in town for the first time at Canterbury on Wednesday, clashing in four races.
Mitchell's best result was a second aboard Sinuous while Darren bagged wins on El Cambio, Come On Cugat and Dorothy Evelyn.
Mitchell didn't have rides in the first two legs of his father's treble but finished eighth aboard Waterfront Lass in Dorothy Evelyn's race.
Despite the focus on their clashes, Darren said he and Mitchell were simply there to do their jobs.
"He's riding his horses and I'm riding mine which is how it should be," he said.
Mitchell will get his first chance to exact revenge in today's The Pam and Petra Inspirational Gift (1300m) when he rides last-start winner Sacred Orders with Darren on promising stablemate Royal Lineup.
Three races later the pair will face off again when Mitchell partners Lectures and Darren the Chris Waller-trained Miss Nikki while in the Sydney City Lexus Hybrid Hcp (1400m) Mitchell rides Montserrat and Darren, Tzu Hsi.
Their rivalry will round out in the final race of the day in which Mitchell has been booked for Chatoyant and Darren for A Sweet Treat.
Ironically, Mitchell finished second aboard A Sweet Treat in his first race ride against his father at Hawkesbury in June last year.
In a busy weekend for the champion rider, Darren will make a hit-and-run trip to Singapore to ride the Bruce Marsh-trained Royal Crown in tomorrow's group one Singapore Derby.
