Ivy Darling never made it to the races for Tony Bambry, but she's proved a winner in the breeding barn for the Awapuni horseman with her grand-son Lord Turbo proving the star so far of the family.
He is both unbeaten and untapped after adding black type to the pedigree page after seeing off the Stephen McKee trained favourite Burnt Orange to win yesterday's Listed HS Dyke Wanganui Guineas.
"We bred him and raced the mother after I bought the grand-dam for $2000 in the late 1980s so we've had the breed for a while," Bambry said.
Lord Turbo is out of Sitting On A Hill, who won one race and was group three placed and also finished fifth in the 2006 Wanganui Guineas. She is booked to Ocean Park.
By Perfectly Ready, Lord Turbo is now likely to head to Hastings for the group two DHL Hawke's Bay Guineas on October 5.
