Fiorenza and Winsome Kash drew attention to their Avondale prospects when they galloped impressively at Matamata yesterday.

On a good plough Fiorenza (Tynan) and Winsome Kash (Rastrick) were well matched over 1000m in 1:04.4, hitting the line strongly after a final 600m in 36.2. Both Richardson stable members are on
the verge of clearing maiden company.

Stella Clark (T. Thornton) completed her Avondale preparation when she worked on the all-weather track, recording a smart 1:03.8 for 1000m and 37.6 for the last 600m. On the same track stablemate Me And Max (Faltham) and Inshelucky (B. Lammas) left an easy 1000m behind in 1:10.8 and 600m in 41.5.

On the plough Charlie Horse (Rastrick), an acceptor in the Avondale Guineas and the Rating 76 1600m, was never at top over 1000m in 1:07, the last 600m in 38.5. Another dual acceptor, Cool Talk (Rastrick), strolled over 1200m in 1:28.4 and 600 in 39.4. She is likely to run in the open 200m rather than the Rating 92 220m.

Racey Stacey (Hercock) looked more than an outside chance for Avondale when she cut out 1200m in 1:17.4 and the final 600m in 36.1. Woodville entrant Pulborough (Ritchie) ran in from the 800m in 49.8 and 600m in 36.5, while Virginie (Ritchie), another headed in the same direction, clocked 54.5 and 38.4.

British Ensign (Rastrick) and Civic (Tynan) ran 1200m in 1:18.5, quickening for a final 600m in 36.2. Princess Zabeel (Carmine) worked over ground and was clocked from the 1200m in 1:22.2 and 600 in 39.7.

Advance (Dowling) was travelling well alongside Tinkerbeel (Russell) at the end of 1200m in 1:17.2, the final 600m in 36.8. Get Even (Pender) was well held over the same ground in 1:25.8 and 38.2, while Fancyfree (Wells) clocked a leisurely 1:28.4 and 41.

Inshetawakel (Alexander) and Star Park (Dellow) cut out 1000m in 1:04, the last 600 in 36.4. Adelariva (M. Innes) showed her paces over 1200m in 1:18 and 600 in 36.2. Charaad (.T Thornton) and Bellatrix (Dent) ran 1000m in 1:07 and 600 in 38.5.

Royal Entertainer (McFetridge) ran the last 800m of his work in 48.5 and 600 in 36.2. Super Yield (Ihaka) covered 1200m in 1:18.6 and 600 in 37.3, while Darling (Pender) had less speed on when clocking 1:19.2 and 41.2. Patrol (P. Brosnan) did similar work to record 1:28.6 and 41.8.

Sir Sintillate (T. Harris), who races next at Te Rapa on Saturday week, worked over 1000m in 1:08.2, the last 600 in 39. Tatoosh (Davidson) was given an easier task, 1000m in 1:13.2 and 600 in 41.4, while Caprianna (Walker) clocked 1:07.2 and 40.3.

Forceful (T. Harris) got through 1200m in 1:23.5 and the last 600m in 40.3. McCann (Lanigan) and a Volksraad colt (De Klerk) took 1:11.3 for 1000m and quickened for a final 600m in 38.8.

* Senorita Ivory galloped pleasingly at Pukekohe yesterday though because of fog she was one of the few Avondale runners able to be timed.

Working on a fast plough, Senorita Ivory covered 1000m in 1:4.8, the last 600 in 38.1. She was an unlucky third last time out. A bit of rain would not harm her chances.

Joyful Life finished his fast preparation for the Avondale Guineas with 1200m well within himself in 1:19.8, the last 600 in 39.2.

Mr Jinky and Domenica were given a quiet 1000m on the sand, able to be seen for only the last 400m which took 27.

Little Jess finished 600m in 42.

Trainer Richard Collett said that his Guineas hope, Crusoe had completed his fast work for the race with 1200m with He's My Brother on the sand on Wednesday and that both travelled strongly in the finish.

Another Guineas runner, Ready To Fire, paceworked on the cinders. She ran second at the Paeroa trials earlier in the week.

* Sovereign, a candidate for Wellington this weekend, looked a likely prospect when working with stablemate Lucky Governor at Cambridge yesterday morning.

Galloping on the plough, which provided good footing, Sovereign (Cropp) started at the l000m and was joined by Lucky Governor (Treymane) to complete the final 600m in a fast 34.7. Both were travelling strongly at the finish. Lucky Governor is an acceptor for Woodville on Sunday.

Pulcinella (Calder) was in fine form when running 1000m in 1:8, dashing the final 600m in 36. Grace (Richards) was sent a comfortable 1000m in 1:11, coming home in 42. Jonty Da Scoundrel (Hills) looked in good heart for Avondale when completing 1000m in 1:5, the final 600m in 37.6.

Aukay (Wood) came in from the 1000m in 1:5.2, finishing off in 39.3. Taatics (Robson) galloped freely over 1200m in 1:17, the concluding 600m in 37.9. Flying Finish (Walsh) covered 1200m nicely in 1:17, coming in from the 800m in 50.1. The Big Sting (Leahy) recorded the quickest 1000m in 1:1.6, the last 600m in 35.
