Top Australian trainers David Hayes and Gai Waterhouse have nominated some of their leading gallopers for New Zealand's richest race, the $1 million Kelt Capital Stakes in October.
Hayes has entered Rewaaya, Cayambe and Vroom Vroom and Waterhouse has dual Epsom Handicap winner Desert War and Aqua D'Amore.
Other Australian nominations were former top New Zealand mare Calveen, now trained in Victoria by Peter Moody, and exciting Sydney 3-year-old The Free Stater, winner of Saturday's Hawkesbury Guineas.
Australian raiders have been a rarity in the Kelt, with Starcraft going closest when he ran second to Balmuse in 2004. Last year's Kelt winner Xcellent was missing from the nominations, with tendon surgery likely to sideline him until later next year.
