Buddy Lammas is looking forward to the next time he climbs aboard exciting racemare Partee.
Lammas combined with Partee to score a narrow victory in the $40,000 Matamata Cup yesterday.
Partee came with a sustained sprint finish along the rails in the home stretch to score by a short neck over the favourite Haylee Baylee with a further 2 1/4 lengths back to Harbour Magic.
Lammas is hopeful of riding the 5-year-old in the Group One $100,000 Captain Cook Stakes at Trentham on October 22.
"She's a very classy mare and she really stretched out when I asked her for an effort in the home straight," said Lammas. "Dick and Chris [Bothwell] want to start her in the Captain Cook Stakes at Trentham later this month and if she starts I will be riding her."
Lammas was in great form at Matamata also winning aboard The Golden Switch and Kenadaad.
"This is the first hat-trick of wins I've ever had as a jockey and it's very thrilling doing that on my home track at Matamata."
Partee has been an in-form performer for the Stratford-based training partnership, scoring six wins and two minor placings from 15 starts.
